Tie-Dye Doughnuts

Preparation: 10 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Servings: 12

250 mL (1 cup) all-purpose flour

175 mL (3/4 cup) granulated sugar

5 mL (1 tsp) baking powder

1 mL (1/4 tsp ) ground nutmeg

1 mL (1/4 tsp) salt

1 egg

75 mL (1/3 cup) Fruité® Grape Drink

60 mL (1/4 cup) milk

60 mL (1/4 cup) melted unsalted butter

2 mL (1/2 tsp) vanilla extract

Purple food colouring (liquid, paste or gel)

Purple Grape Glaze

175 mL (3/4 cup) icing sugar

22 mL (4 1/2 tsp) Fruité® Grape Drink

Purple food colouring (liquid, paste or gel)

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease 12-mould doughnut baking pan. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt.

Whisk together egg, Fruité® Grape Drink, milk, melted butter and vanilla; stir into flour mixture until combined.

Remove 125 mL (1/2 cup) batter; add food colouring to tint dark purple. Set aside. Spoon remaining batter into prepared doughnut pan.

Dollop dark purple batter in multiple dots over batter in doughnut pan. Use skewer to swirl for tie-dye effect. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until tester inserted into centre comes out clean. Let cool in pan on rack for 5 minutes. Remove from pan; let cool completely.

Purple Grape Glaze: Combine icing sugar and grape drink until smooth; swirl in a little food colouring (do not mix completely so icing has swirl effect).

Dip donuts into icing; transfer to rack set over baking sheet. Let stand for 20 to 30 minutes or until icing has set.

To make other coloured doughnuts, use any flavour of Fruité® drink and food
colouring to match.
