Bird

feeder

A pretty coloured bird feeder that’s easy to put together with just a few sticks, an empty Fruité bottle and some metal wire!

  • Empty Fruité bottle
  • 3 or 4 dead branches (or dowels around 35 cm long)
  • Outdoor acrylic paint
  • Drill or arts & crafts precision knife*
  • Malleable metal wire
  • Bird feed

*Arts & crafts precision knives should only be used by an adult or under adult supervision. Scissors with pointed ends, although less precise, can also be used.

1

Apply two coats of outdoor acrylic paint to sticks to be used as perches (follow recommended drying times).

2

With the help of a precision knife or drill, make holes where you plan to insert sticks.

3

Carefully insert sticks into openings.

4

A few centimetres above perches, drill a few small holes so that birds can access the seeds.

5

Under the bottle, make two more incisions (around 3 cm apart) and thread the metal wire, making sure to curve it slightly so it’s easier to thread through the second opening. Secure in place. This wire will help to dangle the bottle from a tree branch.

6

Open bottle and fill with bird feed. Close tightly.

7

Hang outdoors.
